Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia

Big-name musicians, live Broadway shows, top comedians, and classic movies are a mere one-half mile from our midtown Atlanta, GA conference center hotel at the fabulous Fox Theatre. Since the mid-1970s, this revitalized performing arts center has been the go-to destination for midtown entertainment.

Fox Theatre History.

Located at the corner of Peachtree Street and Ponce de Leon Avenue, the theatre first opened on December 25, 1929, just two months after the stock market crash. Originally intende as the Yaarab Temple Shrine Mosque for the Shriners, its unique moorish design sets it apart from all buildings in the area. During the 1940s, the Fox Theatre became one of the finest movie theatres in Atlanta. After a period of decline, a group (including Liberace, Lynard Skynard and other celebrities) formed to save the theatre and place it on National Register of Historical Places. Named a National Historic Landmark in 1976, the theatre is now under the management of Atlanta Landmarks and hosts a multitude of cultural and artisitic events including the Atlanta, a summer film series and national Broadway touring companies.

Tickets for all events are available at the Fox Theatre Box Office on a walk-up basis only. The Fox Theatre Box Office has no service charges for most shows.

• Sunday, the Box Office is not open on Sundays unless there is a performance that day.

During Events, the Box Office opens two hours prior to show time. Doors to the Fox open one hour prior to show time.

Fox Theatre Summer Film Festival.

Relive the glory days of the Fox Theatre when it was the crown jewel of movie palaces at the Summer Film Festival. This annual event features a series of top-notch classic and contemporary films. Savor wine tasting and pre-movie "sing along" with the Mighty Moller organ, a 4000-pipe theatrical organ. It's in mint condition along with the collection of the 1930s-era lyric slides that are projected on the screen for those who need help remembering the words.
